Easy Garlic Bread Recipe - The Taste!

Easy garlic bread recipe is traditional and very easy to do. This kind of bread is very tasty and perfect for accompanying soups, salads, grill and also as apetizer.

I guess you know the American or English recipe for making garlic bread, but that is just making a mixture with garlic and butter over slices of baguette or Italian bread and heating in the oven.

I have a super easy and quick recipe that is really italian. It is the base for the famous Bruschetta. I was used to make it in Tuscany and Umbria while harvesting the olives, at the beginning of autumn.

This is a wonderful time to spend with friends, a desired event year after year: lighting the fire among the olive trees, to toast bread and cook meat on the grill, to break the working day. You need Italian bread with this, absolutely. The best is "pane toscano", the traditional bread they bake in Tuscany and Umbria. Ciabatta bread is good too.

Here is how to obtain a special garlic bread the way they do it in central Italy.

Ingredients

  • Italian bread, pane Toscano or Ciabatta
  • Excellent extra virgin olive oil, better if it is organic and fresh from the press (I know ... it's difficult)
  • Some big cloves of fresh garlic
  • Oregano or ground rosemary or other herbs you like
  • Salt
  • Grated Parmigiano or Pecorino cheese (optional)

Preparation

Step 1: Preheat oven to maximum temperature (from the top). If you can, use the barbeque. If you are really lucky and you can light a wood fire in the garden or in a field ... do it !

Step 2: Cut the bread in slices, or horizontally if you have small loaves.

Step 3: Peel the garlic cloves. At this point of the easy garlic bread recipe, place the halves on a baking pan and heat in the oven for 5 minutes and broil on high heat for 2-3 minutes until the edges of the bread begin to toast. If you broil it only, you will get a slice that is crispy outside and soft inside.

Step 4: Remove bread from oven/fire. Now, hold a garlic cloves with your fingers and grate it over the toasted and hot slice of bread, as much as you want.

Step 5: Pour extra virgin olive oil over the bread, again as much as you like. If you prefer butter, grate it over the bread the same way you did with the garlic. Then sprinkle quickly herbs and salt over the bread. Sprinkle cheese too, if you like it.

Eat it warm, so the heat will bring the smell to your nose. Accompany with cheese, salami, ham, or grilled meat and red wine!
