Italian Sub Sandwich -
Panini You Will Love

Italy is the perfect place to taste a good Italian sub sandwich. Italian love “Panini”(rolls).

They are perfect to be eaten at work, when there's no time to cook or for a good meal while hanging a walk or a picnic.

It's simply made by crusty rolls, thins slices of meats, ham and cheese, then flavored with peperoncino and a mix of Italian garlic and onions. It will be "sub-tastic".

Ingredients

  • 2 Garlic Cloves, thiny cutted
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Italian Hot chili Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Olive Oil and 1/4 cup Italian Wine Vinegar
  • 16 oz Loaf of Italian Bread (or rolls)
  • 2 or 3 Slices of "Prosciutto Cotto" (Ham)
  • 2 Slices Thinly Sliced Capocollo
  • 3 or 4 Thinly Sliced Salame Milanese
  • 4 Slices Provolone Cheese
  • 4 Slices of Mozzarella Cheese
  • 4 leaves of Shredded Iceberg Lettuce
  • Thinly Sliced "Tropea" Red Onion (optional)
  • 2 - 4 slices of fresh tomato

Preparation

Step 1: Add cutted garlic cloves, oregano, salt, pepper, vinegar and olive oil. Place them in a bowl and let it sit as to have to marinate them.

Step 2: Cut in two the rolls or divide the loaf into 4 portions to have a perfect Italian sub sandwich. Cut each portion in half lengthwise and remove the crumb from the center of each loaf, leaving the shell of the bread (if a "full" bread is preferred, then leave the crumb, especially if it's soft).

Step 3: Stir the Italian sauce again. So take a spoon of it and start to put a little bit of the dressing inside the crumb of each loaf. Let sit again for few minutes, until the crumb is a little dunk.

Step 4: Layer the few slices of Capocollo, Prosciutto Cotto, Salame milanese, alternating them with the slices of Provolone and Mozzarella. Top with two slices of tomatoes and then repeat the meat layer again. To complete the Italian sub sandwich, top that with a a 1/4 cup of lettuce, then serve. "BUON APPETITO"!
